Sam P.K. Collins
George Washington University
ContributorNative Washingtonian.
Journalist.
Public Policy Master’s Candidate at the George Washington University.
A Person Determined to Empower Those Who Need Information the Most.
These phrases are a culmination of Sam P.K. Collins’ life work and what he ultimately sees as his purpose. Mr. Collins has had the opportunity to come across people from different parts of the social, economic, and political spectrum. He is a product of the D.C. Public School System (Banneker Academic High School’s Class of 2007) and alumnus of the George Washington University (B.A. Journalism and Mass Communication, 2011), arguably the best private university in the District.
His life experiences and those of others – people who have seen the monuments and sights that make ‘Washington’ a great historic city and those who have seen and experienced the woes of the “District of Columbia’ – were the seeds from which has passion for journalism has grown. Sensing a lack of common understanding on both sides, Mr. Collins has pledged to be one of the few journalists who empower the impoverished with life changing information while informing tourists and outsiders about a side of the nation’s capital they will most likely never see.
