Dr. Jamie Hestekin received his bachelor\'s degree in chemical engineering in 1995 from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and his PhD in chemical engineering in 2000 from the University of Kentucky under the advisement of Dr. D. Bhattacharyya. He spent three years at Argonne National Laboratory where he worked on a research project that won a prestigious R&D 100 Award in 2006. He spent 3 years at Kraft Foods while co-inventing the milk component of Tassimo Hot Beverage System. He is currently an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas and has won a faculty gold medal, one of seven given out campus wide each year for outstanding service to undergraduates; a John L. White Convocation Award, one of three given out campus wide each year for excellence in faculty-student interactions; a Teacher of the Year Award at the Faculty Appreciation Banquet, one three per year given out campus wide for outstanding teaching; and was invited to the Frontiers of Engineering Education Workshop sponsored by the National Academy of Engineering, one of 55 engineering faculty nationwide attending for innovations in teaching. Dr. Hestekin is most proud of, however, the awards that his students have won. In the past 5 years, students have won 1 Goldwater Scholar with 2 honorable mentions, won the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Regional Conference 1st and 2nd place, been awarded a EPA Greater Research Opportunity Fellowship, won the University of Arkansas College of Engineering Outstanding Senior once and the Chemical Engineering Department Outstanding Senior twice, been an honorable mention at the EPA’s P3 competition, and been awarded several state and honors college research grants, etc.
