Storytelling + Innovation = Impact (In Rome!)

"I was able ... to show why storytelling is important for innovators like us."
— David Wilson, Purdue University

“Coming to Rome as a media maker was an incredible experience ... It made me realize there's so much for me to tell, to look into, to research — I actually have a chance to make an impact.”
— Anahi Ruiz, George Washington University

Winners of the first Planet Forward Storyfest Competition met in Rome in October 2015 to present their ideas to sustainability leaders at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ Committee on World Food Security. The participants — Jeremy Robison and David Wilson from Purdue University, and Anahi Ruiz and Lauren Pollack from The George Washington University — got the opportunity to learn from the experts while sharing their own innovations with policy makers who were eager to listen.

This was on the 70th anniversary of the creation of the UN-FAO and it represents an investment in this planet’s future. Because on the 105th anniversary, in 2050, nearly 70% of the world's population will be in urban areas, according to the UN. This is the focus for Planet Forward Storyfest 2016, when the investment will be as important as ever.
