UNSW's Associate Professor Greg Leslie has developed new technology that could offer new hope to farmers in drought-affected and marginal areas by enabling crops to grow using salty water.

The new technology uses reverse osmosis membranes to filter salty water and direct the water directly to the plants' roots without damaging the crops.
