Revival of Oyster Populations in Bays and Estuaries to Improve Water Quality

Improving water quality by reviving oyster populations

Tara Scully is a biology professor at the George Washington University who combines a service learning element to her biology classes. In this specific project, she works with students on getting oysters to reproduce. Studies on the benefits of water quality of bays and estuaries around the world, as well as shocking statistics on the decline of oyster populations, create a more than convincing case for her efforts.
