Protecting not protesting

The Keystone Pipeline threatens the livelihood of the Sioux Tribe, ardent advocates of the sanctity of their land and the water which flows through it. The Sioux have a right to their land and the resources within it. 

Traveling from Colorado to North Dakota was no easy task, for the exact location of the mass protest was elusive. We wanted to be a fraction of something larger than ourselves and advocate for the retention and protection of the gorgeous river that supports the Sioux. 

Cotton candied clouds hung lazily above us with a color so vibrant it must have been painted by the imagination of a child. Fluorescent pinks, purples and oranges of every shade danced across the clouds from the horizon. Every mile was traversed in anticipation as the burial ground drew ever nearer.
