Small, inexpensive robotic fish, equipped with sensors, form mobile sensor networks in water, allowing them to monitor water quality and other environmental processes (harmful algal blooms, oil plumes, other pollutants) in a dynamic manner. Data collected are wirelessly transmitted back to computers or smart phones for information display and decision- making.
