I'm back in business! I found a charger for my battery in a camera store here in Nairobi. And the lessons I learned from this: 1. Everyone makes mistakes. There's always a way to fix them. Most big cities have camera stores with all sorts of gadgets including my Japanese charger that magically works! 2. Don't be an idiot. Double and triple check you have everything. And hey here's a thought... Charge your batteries before you leave. Then take the charger with you. Easy! 3. Don't get ripped off. The first store I tried was going to charge me $100 for one battery. We left and found another shop. My mistake only cost a minor $36 and 5 days without my DSLR for a charger that will last much longer. 4. Do what you can with what you have. My iPhone helped me capture many moments because it forced me to slow down and be diligent with my visuals. It's just as powerful of a tool as a big fancy camera. 5. Be thankful you are on an awesome production team. Our project kept rolling because my camera wasn't the only one we had with us. Between Imani and Gaby my error was only minor. If I was traveling alone, it could have been catastrophic! I'm thrilled to be sharing this experience with such awesome people who are clearly much less spacey than myself. So now that the cliffhanger has come to a conclusion, keep track of the rest of our journey on Instagram and Facebook. We've got two awesome stories for tomorrow so stay right here for more. -Your intrepid explorer, Sara
