How to Make a Cool Video
Planet Forward is excited to be partnering with Second Nature this year on the Climate Leadership Awards to feature some of the great climate leadership work being done by colleges and universities.
As part of this year's Climate Leadership Awards, finalists are being asked to create a 1-3 minute video highlighting the innovation documented in their nomination forms. Videos are due March 10th, but you'll need to start planning today! This video will be submitted to the Planet Forward web competition in March, and featured in a public voting contest. Institutions (along with other innovators) who receive the most votes will have the chance to be featured on the PBS on-air special in April 2012, and all institutions who create videos will be eligible to be featured in our webisodes, on Nightly Business Report, and in other public outreach opportunities.
How to Submit
Suggested video length: 1 – 3 minutes.
Once completed, simply upload to YouTube or Vimeo and submit your video. Choose the category that best describes your idea (Engineering, Transportation, Science, Policy, Business, or Nature) and fill out the form. Simply post the link to your video, describe your idea, and remember to check the “Climate Leadership Awards” box at the bottom of the page to be entered into the competition.
In addition, remember to add in other relevant tags like “Campus Sustainability”, "Colleges and Universities", and others so that a wider audience can hear about your ideas.
Be creative! Videos can be anything from a web cam commentary to a music video. Use students to tell the story! For more information on how to make a good video, check out our informational page here.
Videos due by March 10th, 2012

Framing Your Video
Use this question to guide the creation of your video: What innovation is your campus providing to help communities build for the future and adapt to a changing planet? Use components of your nomination form to Second Nature, and be sure to highlight the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment by using the full title of the commitment, and logo, during the video.
