Maglev Trains

PF_Storyfest_Badge_V4_03-15-16_ALsmall-03.pngThis innovation is a train, known as a "maglev train" that uses magnetic forces to levitate off the guideway. This innovation will help solve the problems of long-distance transportation -- a prevalent issue regarding urbanization -- due to its ability to reduce traffic and CO2 emissions (since it is powered by electricity, not diesel fuel) and accelerate to speeds of more than 300 miles per hour. If a maglev train and guideway were built and utilized to travel from Washington, D.C. to New York, N.Y., it would only take an hour to travel between the two cities, which is three times faster than the average train (such as the Acela) takes.
