Internships at Planet Forward

Planet Forward is looking for talented, highly-motivated interns for Fall 2014.

Planet Forward is a project of the Center for Innovative Media that engages young people and innovators in search of the solutions to the biggest challenges facing our planet. Through media, teaching and convening we empower new voices and elevate compelling ideas. We distribute our content via planetforward.org, our Bloomberg TV segments and partnerships with other news organizations. We also convene a series of expert salons, town halls, lectures and other events on campus and across the country throughout the year leading up to a yearly day-long innovation summit.

All Planet Forward internships are dynamic, creative positions – there’s no filing or getting coffee for the staff. Interns act as a full member of the Planet Forward team with their own assignments and areas of responsibility. All candidates must have:

  • Interest in environmental, food security and energy issues
  • Ability to work independently or with a group
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-growing, demanding, start-up environment
  • Strong writing and communications skills

Internships last one semester, and are generally for-credit. During the summer, volunteer positions are available to those not enrolled as a summer student. Hours are flexible and can be based around class obligations. In general, 5 hours a week is expected for each credit hour of a for-credit internship.

Interested candidates should send their resume, cover letter and a sample of relevant work to Managing Editor Mike DeVito at mike@planetforward.org. Please write “Planet Forward Internship Application” in the subject line.
